The writer is interested to investigate the intended meaning of car advertisements and how the readers could capture the intended meaning in the advertisements. Moreover, the writer also wants to find out whether the communication of advertisements is successful in transmitting the message to the reader or not.The purpose of this study is to identify the intended meaning of car advertisements with special reference to stylistic and diction. To be more specific, the writer wants to find out the intended meaning of messages of car advertisements by analyzing the diction of advertisements through the stylistic and diction approach; denotative, connotative and imagery. Moreover, the writer also wants to reconstruct, based on the finding of the meaning of diction (denotation, connotation and imagery), the intended meaning of messages in car advertisements so the writer and other possible
readers could capture the messages of advertisement. Another thing, the writer also investigates whether the advertising of communication between producers and
consumers is successful or not.

This research analyzes grammatical and lexical cohesion devices in Emma Watson’s speech text. The purposes of the research are to know how the grammatical and lexical cohesion used in the speech text to reveal gender equality and to know grammatical and lexical cohesion used dominantly in the speech text to reveal the gender equality. Through counting the percentage of every cohesion devices that appear in the speech text by Scinto’s formula.This research is expected to provide a contribution for some advantages in linguistic study, particularly the branch of cohesion. Moreover, this research becomes a reference about Halliday and Hasan’s theory and also broadens the knowledge of written discourse, especially in the study of cohesion.
